William E. (“Bill”) Mussman III has been a member of the California bar since 1976. A graduate of Stanford University and Hastings College of the Law, he began his legal career in San Francisco where he worked for Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro in a major case litigation group. While there, he represented clients in multi-district antitrust, securities and environmental litigation. In 1984, he joined some former Pillsbury partners under the firm name Carr & Mussman, later Carr, Mussman & Harvey, continuing to represent large and mid-sized businesses in litigation. By the time he relocated his practice to Modesto, California, he could say that if it had to do with business and going to court, he had probably handled that kind of case.
On January 1, 2000, Mr. Mussman formed a partnership with his father, a noted antitrust attorney, under the name of Mussman & Mussman, LLP. In 2001, his wife Carol joined the partnership just prior to Mr. Mussman Sr.’s passing.
The firm continues to handle business advice, formation and litigation, with attorneys admitted to practice in all California federal and state courts. Additionally, the firm handles consumer (Chapter 7) bankruptcies, and represents clients involved with Child Protective Services. Mr. Mussman is also an experienced arbitrator and mediator of business disputes.
